VIRGINIA BLACK piano 

Programme to include

J S Bach - Partita No 2 in C minor, BWV 826

and music by Rameau, Scarlatti and Mozart

Following a dazzling international career specialising in the virtuoso repertoire for the harpsichord, Virginia Black has turned full circle and returned to her roots as a pianist.  Following her recent CD releases of the complete Bach Partitas and twelve Scarlatti sonatas, this concert celebrates Virginia Black's passion for these great composers.  The concert, previewing a forthcoming London recital at Kings Place, will also include pieces from Rameau's suites and a Mozart Sonata.

CHRISTOPHER HORNER  violin

Ravel - Sonata for violin and piano

and music by Schubert and Falla

Christopher Horner, formerly Deputy Head of Strings at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, is active as a recitalist and chamber musician throughout the UK, Europe and Southern Africa.  Christopher has given UK premières of the complete works for violin and piano by the Lithuanian composer Juozas Gruodis whose work he has recorded for CD with pianist John Lenehan.

Leading young British cellist Hannah Sloane, a graduate of New York's Juilliard School, first played for us when she was a Junior Exhibitioner at the Royal Academy of Music almost a decade ago.  She has made several return visits and is extremely popular with Weymouth audiences, so we anticipate her return with great delight.  Joined this time by Duncan Honeybourne, she will play a delicious programme of music by Poulenc, Debussy and Fauré.

Acclaimed soprano Abbi Temple, a native of Weymouth and much loved by local audiences, enjoys a varied freelance career combining Opera, Oratorio, Choral, Consort and Recital singing.  She is a member of Chamber Choir Ireland.
